Hi everyone! It's been busy as usual. I am playing the CMA Awards on Monday, Novemeber the 6th... taped live from The Gaylord Entertainment Center in Nashville. It will air on ABC, 7 pm central... double check your local listing! I will be performing Jason Aldean's smash hit "Hicktown" in a nice little 3 minutes and 15 second package! Don't miss us! I am also in the middle of a 31 city tour for CMT. It features Jason Aldean, Billy Currington, and Trace Adkins. Trace is calling it his "Dangerous Man" Tour, 2006. We are hitting the big markets, playing 10,000 seater arenas. My RT Crasher is there on every date! Jason's video for "Amarillo Sky" was recently the most played video on CMT, beating out the likes of Kenney Chesney and Keith Urban! I also played recently with Deanna Johnston (Rockstar : Inxs), Lucie Diamond (Europe's #1 Country artist) and RCA's Crystal Schwanda. I also had fun recently in a house band for Major Bob Music where I backed up Lane Turner (Warner Brothers), Robin Welty, Casey Kessell, and Brent Anderson. Also having fun around Nashville playing with up and comers Sterling Y and Beth Cayhall...

My recent recordings include:
- The yet to be titled sophomore release from Jason Aldean (Broken Bow).
- The debut from Crossin Dixon (Broken Bow) along with Greg Morrow on drums.
- The debut from Brittany Wells.
- New track for rocky tonker Brian Davis (BMG).
- New tracks for The Casino Thieves.
- New tracks for Muzik Mafia's Jon Armstrong.

Hi everybody. I hope you had a great Thanksgiving. Check out my new design web site, which is still under construction.

I will be playing with my quartet at the Brick Restaurant Friday Dec. 8 and Dec. 29 in Jacksonville, FL.

I've had a few really crazy days lately but it's been a lot of fun. A quick trip to Chicago to play percussion with Aretha Franklin at the House of Blues. I played with the great Marcus Printup at the Amelia Island Jazz Festival and that was amazing. I got to hang with my friend Poncho Sanchez, his band sounded great. I’ve been recording with good friend and great bass player Phil Morrison and on piano Keith Williams. We recorded some really nice tunes that Keith wrote, it came out pretty good.

Also in that recording, playing is the great guitar player Barry Greene. I’ve also been doing some private lessons and clinic at UNF. I had a great drum lesson with Danny Gottlieb, a great drummer. I am playing drums and percussion on Denny LeRoux's latest release. I just got a new drum endorsement, I am now playing Tamburo drums, handcrafted by Tullio Granatello out of Italy. I plan on doing some clinic, workshop with Tamburo. Coming up is a trip to Chicago, LA for the NAMM show. And as always I’m doing some studio work, gigging around town with my band, James Hogan, Teddy Washington, Denny LeRoux and KTG. Thank you to my sponsors Paiste Cymbal, Vic Firth stick, Mike Balter Mallets, Rhythm Tech and Tamburo drum

Hey everyone-
Hope you and yours are all well-

I haven't sent an update out in a while, so I just wanted to let everyone know what I've been up to:

sessions, sessions, and more sessions...

I've been programming and drumming for Avril Lavigne on a bunch of tracks that she's working on for her new album.

I'm on the latest Pink single, "You and Your Hand" (programming and/or percussion).

I did some more drumming for Bo Bice (American Idol). There's a new TV commercial for Monopoly (the board game), which features Bo's remake of the classic rock song "The Time Has Come Today". I'm drumming on that. I think the song is also available as a single on iTunes. I'm also on his upcoming single "You Make Me Better".

I did some programming for Kelis.

I played drums on the score for the Universal motion picture "Accepted" (summer comedy hit)

I played drums on the new album by the amazing Canadian jazz singer, Holly Cole. The record features some of the best jazz musicians in NYC, including the great Lenny Picket (SNL Band Leader, and formerly of Tower of Power, etc)

I played drums on a song for the upcoming Disney animated movie, "Meet The Robinsons", scheduled for a 2007 release. The song was written by Rufus Wainwright, and produced by electro-jazz artist Mocean Worker. It was done with a full Big Band (jazz)... again, with some of the top NYC jazz talent... and was sung by British jazz/crossover sensation, Jamie Cullum. You can view the trailer here.

I played drums on 2 tracks for WindUp Records recording artist, Megan McCauley.

I did some programming for Capital recording artist, Sky Sweetnam.

I've been playing on some jingles... the usual stuff... most recently, something for Sprite...

I just played on some score music for a new film starring Eddie Kaye Thomas (the guy who slept with Stiffler's mom in American Pie). I don't remember what the film is called.

and... my drumming samples (NYC Drumworks sample CD) are still used often in TV and film music... South Park regularly uses my samples... and I just heard myself on one of the new "must see" TV shows (I forget which one)...

-I'm still doing the writing/producing thing... and I'm pleased to say that I'm finally crossing that line where the bulk of my income is coming from songwriting/publishing royalties. Like many drummers before me, I'm branching out... BUT I am NOT looking to retire as a drummer... drumming will always be my first love...

best,
Wolf

Just a head's up that I am performing on the dvd, "From The Big Apple To The Big Easy: The Concert For New Orleans." It will be released on August 22, and can be purchased on Amazon.

The concert was recorded on September 20, 2005 at Madison Square Garden, and features performances by Jimmy Buffett, Ry Cooder, Elvis Costello, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, John Fogerty, Elton John, Diana Krall, Lenny Kravitz, Cyndi Lauper, Dave Matthews, Bette Midler, Rebirth Brass Band, Simon & Garfunkel, Irma Thomas, Allen Toussaint, Buckwheat Zydeco, and my in-laws, The Meters and The Neville Brothers.

I performed with Bette Midler for this amazing event. It was hosted by our family friend, Ed Bradley, and my wife, Arthel, was there covering it for Fox. It was definitely a night that I will never forget, especially considering it hit so close to home since all of my in-laws lost everything, and Arthel was in the trenches for three weeks covering the aftermath in New Orleans with her camera crew.

This year to date I have been very busy in the studio with several projects from Singer Songwriters to Jazz and Soul Groups. Several new releases for both independent and labeled artists have come out. Performance schedule has changed quite a bit. After 10 years working with one group exclusively I have stepped back to become once again an independent artist opening up my schedule to be able to work with more diverse musical environments as well as produce my own concerts and projects. Currently in the studio working on my third release featuring duets with several different artists. Continuing to keep a very busy schedule with my educational workshops and master classes. Just licensed one of my workshops to Community Learning a company that develops curriculum for enrichment organizations as well as elementary schools. This program is a 15 week course based on making and playing percussion instruments made out of found objects. Highlighting Science, Math, Language, Humanities and History. It features a teacher’s course book, student workbooks, all the materials needed so that each student will complete 5 different instruments, and a cd / dvd for both audio and video support. It is being sold throughout North America with the future open to the rest of the world.

Albert Bouchard - drums percussion

Albert Bouchard

The Brain Surgeons are the brainstorm of Albert Bouchard, whose prodigious songwriting, arrangements and creative drumming drove the legendary Blue Öyster Cult to platinum sales and arena rock status. Contrary to the hilarious Saturday Night Live skit, he's the dude who really put the cowbell in "Don't Fear the Reaper." More important, his influence is acknowledged by rock pioneers from the Minutemen (whose Mike Watt still covers his "The Red and the Black" nightly) to Metallica, whose version of his classic "Astronomy." went quadruple-platinum in the U.S. alone. The rare artist who's shared stages with both Jimi Hendrix and Sonic Youth, his vision, chops and giant Godzilla mask burn brightly as ever with the Brain Surgeons, who've released seven highly praised CDs on Cellsum Records and built a devoted cult following over a decade of hard touring and great word-of-mouth. The band also features Deborah Frost, an ex-rock critic in the tradition of Patti Smith and Chrissie Hynde on vocals and guitar. Their newest and perhaps most outrageous weapon is lead guitarist Ross the Boss (Dictators, Manowar). One of the most powerful and best-loved guitarists ever to emerge from the New York scene, Ross the Boss has often made the band he's in sound like a supergroup. With Bouchard, who's longed to collaborate with him ever since the Dictators opened for Blue Öyster Cult, he's really in one. DENIAL OF DEATH, an album of completely new material written and recorded with Ross can be ordered now from the Merch department at www.cellsum.com. Details of international distribution deal and 2006 tour dates are forthcoming.

Hola Mi Gente 8-)!

How is everyone? I hope life is showing all of you much love. Here are 2 new films to watch out for that have Bermudez Triangle tunes in them.

"Dorm Daze 2" will be released to theatres soon. It features July Playboy Playmate, lovely and sexy Cuban actress Vida Guerra. It is a comedy :-) .

www.dormdaze2themovie.com

"God's Waiting List" is a wonderfully conceived story about a love triangle between 2 siblings and their mutual love interest "Rachel" portrayed beautifully by Nian Aster. She gives a riveting performance in her character's fall from grace. Nian wrote the screenplay as well.

Notable actors Roger "Guenveur" Smith from "Malcom X", Nicki Micheaux from"The Shield", and Ingrid Oliu from "Real Women Have Curves" round out the cast. It was directed by screenwriter Duane Adler . He wrote the screenplay for "Save The Last Dance".

First, I've updated my website to include lots of pictures as well as video. Also check out the new endorsers page....

I've been busy traveling between South America, North America and Europe. Doing lots of sessions and jingles. This summer I'll be performing with Sylvia Tosun (She has a new Live DVD coming out soon. It's Awesome!), Deborah Gibson (at the 20th anniversary of the Newport Mall this sat), Tina Turner Tribute Show in Times Sq. and much more. I've also been helping Dido write for her next record. It's going to be a great third record. I'll be in London with her for the month of June and Ibiza in August.

All the best to you all,
New Website!

Hi all! Since completing Stevie Nicks' Australia / New Zealand tour, I have been over to Italy twice with Giorgia, a female Italian popstar, performing in Torino at the Paralympic Winter Games and in Milan. I have also been performing with the Japanese world music group Rin'. This group is comprised of three young women who play all traditional Japanese instruments (koto, 17-string koto, biwa, shakuhatchi, and shamisen). They fuse their music with loops and yours truly on live percussion. We ended up doing some shows in Los Angeles with Lisa Loeb singing, and in New York with Leigh Nash (of Sixpence None The Richer) singing. I also recently did a show with Stevie Nicks in Las Vegas at the Wynn, and got to hang out with Pam Gore for a quick second!

I am currently in Tokyo rehearsing with Utada Hikaru. At 22, Hikaru has become the largest selling Japanese artist with 40 million in record sales to date. Her debut album sold 30 million when she was 15... not bad in a country of 120 million! I will be touring with her in Japan until mid-September.

I have been in the studio tracking with Nelly Furtado, as well as doing cues for various television shows, including the now defunct Heather Graham show, "Emily's Reasons Why Not."

Also, I just recently completed a 5-week tour with Stevie Nicks in Australia and New Zealand, backed by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. Right after that, I flew out to Torino, Italy to perform with Italian popstar Giorgia for the medal ceremony at the Paralympic Winter Games.

Upcoming work includes being back in the studio for various projects, as well as more dates with Giorgia over in Italy. You can check my website (www.takuhirano.com) to see where in the world I am at any given time.

Monsters invade

"New York Monsters" conjures up images of loud, rowdy metal bands from Brooklyn, but the New York Monsters that will work tonight at Luna play a brand of funk / jazz / blues. The monster part comes about because the band features monstrous talent.

The lineup is two players from New York, keyboard and accordion ace and composer Brian Mitchell and guitarist, singer, songwriter, producer, clinician, etc. Matt Smith, plus three Texas cats, drummer Ernie "Murphy" Durawa, saxophonist Joe Morales and bassist Rich Stanmyre.

Mitchell has played accordion or keyboards with a dizzying array of people from Les Paul to Joan Osborne, from Jeff Buckley to Shemekia Copeland.

Smith plays just about everything with strings, guitar, mandocello, banjo, charango, etc., etc. A clinician with Hamer and Ovation guitars and a contributor to Guitar Player magazine, Smith is working with two new CDs, "What I Feel for You" and "Chop Shop."

Durawa, a San Antonio native, has worked with Spot Barnett, the Texas Tornados and jazz groups galore. If he says these guys are monsters, they're monsters.
